Selling Your Home During the Holidays

Selling your house during the holiday season doesn’t have to be stressful.

Are you thinking about putting your home on the market to sell during the holidays? Decorations are always a big topic during this part of the year, and we always notice when neighbors are putting up theirs. We get excited and start putting up our own, but if you’re selling a home, that might not be the route to go.

To get a house ready for the market, you need to depersonalize it. Depersonalization should happen both inside and outside. Remember that this is a temporary thing. Next year, you can go crazy with decorations, but this year, try to be a little more subdued so they don’t distract buyers from looking at the important parts of your home.

Keep decorations seasonal but minimal.

You don’t want your pictures to be dated. I don’t recommend having Halloween decorations in your photos, but if you did and your home stayed on the market for a while, people will instantly be able to tell how long it has been on the market and may start wondering if something is wrong with it.

Remember that people are always buying houses. It doesn’t matter what month or time of year it is. Just focus on making your home warm and inviting. Keep decorations seasonal but minimal, and people will see how great it would be to live in your home.

If you have any questions, reach out to us by phone or email. We know it’s going to be a busy season for everyone, but we’re here to help, and you’d be surprised by how much we can take off your plate when you sell your house. We look forward to hearing from you.
